Anusara Yoga Immersion    Level 1
July 23-27, 2008     $650

With Certified Anusara Yoga Instructors Neesha Zollinger and Cate Stillman

The Anusara Immersion program is designed for dedicated students of yoga to take their practice and understanding to the next level. This 108 hour program is typically taught in three “levels”. It follows Anusara Yoga founder John Friend’s curriculum and is for anyone who wishes to pursue a deeper experience of yoga as well as anyone who is interested in teaching.

The immersion is a prerequisite for the

Anusara Yoga Teacher Training Program.

.

After the immersion, you will have a solid foundation of asana alignment technique in the Anusara style as well as an understanding of the uplifting and inspiring philosophy that Anusara Yoga is built on.

This immersion invites you to expand your mind and heart, connect with your spirit and the spirit of the Kula (yoga community), while providing a rich and transformative experience.

Neesha Zollinger,
owner of Akasha Yoga in Jackson Hole, brings 16 years of yoga and dance experience to her classes. She teaches a life-affirming philosophy that includes a heart-centered approach to an elegant set of biomechanical alignment principles. Neeha has studied with Anusara founder, John Friend, for 6 years.

Cate Stillman is a Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher and founder of Yogahealer, a community-based practice of Ayurvedic Medicine, the healing science of Yoga. She is co-owner of YogaTejas, an Anusara Yoga Studio in Driggs, ID with Bridget Lyons.

In Immersion 1 (36 hours), we explore all of the Universal Principles of Alignment.
This phase includes:
  • An in-depth exploration of the Universal Principles of Alignment (the 3 A's, the 5 Steps and the Loops), and introduction to the use of props
  • A basic Anusara Yoga philosophy overview, Fundamentals of Practice, Ethical Precepts, Basics of Studentship and Overview of the History of Yoga
  • Elemental anatomy and anatomy of the breath
  • Fundamental pranayama, meditation, journaling, and contemplation
  • An introduction to all the poses from Anusara's Level 1 syllabus

If you are a yoga teacher or would like to begin teaching, "Part One: Stepping into the Heart" includes much of what is covered in a teacher training and more.   We just leave the "how-to's" of teaching to Teacher Training, when the time is right.

  • The week's schedule will be:
